Well, here we are, the last few days of school! Words will never express the joy I have had being your child's third grade teacher! What a great bunch of kids! Thanks for all you did on the homefront to help your child with anything that came up in the school year! You truly are the only teacher that stays with them throughout all of their school years and are an intregal part to their school success! Teachers dream about leading classes like mine! The perserverance and love of learning was demonstrated everyday in some way by the kids! I will miss them and their enthusiasm! As you know, we have a short and sweet week! Today and tomorrow are full days! We are wrapping up most subject areas with projects and review. Thursday is an 11:30 dismissal. It is also clean up day with an ice-cream social. Friday is our last day! Hooray! There is a 9:15 mass and report card distribution and dismissal will follow! Have a safe, relaxing, and wonderful summer!
Wow! I can't believe only nine school days left until your child is officially a fourth grader! There is much to be accomplished these last two weeks. There is a Social Studies test on the city of Chicago scheduled for Friday. A study guide will be sent home today. We will be wrapping up division in the next few days. The remainder of math classes will be spent in review of all lessons learned with some introduction to fractions and probability. We will take our last unit test in Reading on Wednesday and finish the year with a novel. We are writing papers about the Chicago fieldtrip in English. Thanks to all who chaperoned. It was a beautiful day despite having to share our deck with 8th graders. The kids really seemed to enjoy it, and I hope you did too! As you can see, we will be busy! Enjoy the mini heat wave! The final three weeks of third grade are upon us, and I'm having a hard time believing that I only have 13 days left with this group! They have been such a wonderful class, and I will miss them tremendously! This week is very busy, the highlight being the Field Trip on Wednesday! A note will be sent home today with important details, so please read! We will be wrapping up our Adverb unit on Tuesday. We will review on Thursday and test on Friday. Today we began working with remainders in division. Our story of the week is Two Bad Ants. In Social Studies we will continue learning about different aspects of our city, Chicago! Duing the next three weeks we will be reviewing past units and words in spelling. Falcon Idol is set for Friday! The Chicago reports look great, and our t-shirts turned out beautiful! I hope that all enjoyed Mother's Day and the weekend. Here in school we have a short but busy week. I cannot believe that only 18 school days remain. Even though we are at the end of the year, there is work to be done!:') We will be taking a Math test today covering Unit 7, Division. The kids have been doing so well with this, and I know they're ready. We will then continue with division using remainders. We will be focusing on a few writing activities this week in English and our last unit - Adverbs. We will continue to review all grammar lessons. Chicago continues to be our kind of lesson in Social Studies. We will be reading a story called Floating Home. Because of the short week, our test will be on Thursday. On top of all of this, we have t-shirts to paint and a report on Chicago is due next Monday! May is always the busiest time of the year. I look forward to the field trip next Wednesday. Happy May! Our final month of school is upon us, and I can't quite get my mind to grasp that! We will continue with division for the rest of the week. I think a test will be given on Friday if the kids continue to do so well with the concept. We are reading and discussing The Extra Good Sunday in class. Accelerated reading tests need to be completed and passed by Fridays. We are working on the Chicago Unit in Social Studies. We know about the city's location, seal, and flag. The history of our city will be the topic this week. A report on Chicago will be due in a few weeks. Information will be sent home tomorrow with your child. We will be doing more writing this week in English including a poem for our moms. Don't forget, Friday is a half day in honor of May Crowning. It's a busy month! April ends on Friday and May days are right around the corner! We have accomplished so much this year, and I hope to finish the year with our best work and efforts! This week we are reading the story, Mailing May. We will continue working on division in math. I am stressing over and over again the relationship between multiplication and division. The students seem to be grasping it well. We will be taking a Science test tomorrow on work and forces. A study guide went home last Wednesday. On Wednesday, we will start our Chicago Unit! The kids are excited about that! We will be working on writing this week in English. Our focus will be a pursuasive paper. Our school will be welcoming state evaluators on Thursday and Friday. The 2nd graders will make their Communion on Saturday. Yes, it was a year ago when you were celebrating. Don't forget - Field trip money is due on Friday! If you need a new form, let me know! It's hard to believe that only seven weeks remain in our school year! Time flies when you're having fun! We will be wrapping up multiplication today - division will begin tomorrow! Remember to check your child's progress. Some students need more practice than others. There is an English test scheduled for Wednesday on Unit 11, Pronouns. We will review tomorrow and a take home test will be sent home. We are working on simple machines in Science. A study guide for the unit will be going home on Wednesday with a test coming up next Tuesday, April 27th. We are reading The Pinata Maker in Reading. Progress reports will be going home on Wednesday. For those who did not see it yet in the Friday Folder, the Chicago field trip note was there! I hope each of you had a wonderful Easter Holiday and a restful break. If you traveled or just used the time to read a book, clean, or slow the pace of your usual hectic schedule and hang out with your family, I hope you are relaxed and ready for the busy weeks ahead. I know this tends to be a busy time of year, but please keep school a priority. We have a lot to accomplish still! We will continue working on multiplying 2,3, and 4 digit numbers in Math. We will also be multiplying money. Again, I stress the importance of knowing the basic math facts of multiplication. If you need help, let me know. We are wrapping up the story, Leah's Pony, in Reading tomorrow. We will also be finishing up the unit. A unit test will be given on Thursday. We will work on the essay in class on Wednesday, but it should be practiced at home. We are moving back to Science for a few weeks focusing on forces and motion. Only 2 more school days until Easter Break. We are moving right along in class. A Social Studies test is set for tomorrow. A study guide went home last Tuesday. We will continue working on Multiplying 2 and 3 digit numbers by 1 factor and mulyiplying money. The students seem to have a good grasp of this skill but a few still stuggle with basic facts. Nightly practice continues to be the norm and is encouraged, and yes, even over the break:'). Leah's Pony is the story of the week in Reading. We will begin it today and finish it up when we return from Easter break. This will wrap up unit 5 in Reading. We will have a unit test sometime that week also. April showers bring May flowers! March is moving along here in third grade. We will continue working in all subject areas. In Math, we will begin multiplying 2,3,and 4 digit numbers by 1 factor. We have been working on timed tests in class. Please look over your child's scores and determine if your child needs extra practice. The better they know their facts, the more confident they become. We are reading More Than Anything Else in Reading. We have started Unit 11 in English - Pronouns. We will continue government lessons in Social Studies. A study guide will be sent home soon. Expect a test next week. In Religion, we will be discussing the Easter Season and the Stations of the Cross. We attend the book fair today.
