The children did a great job today hosting our school mass in honor of the Immaculate Conception. I was very proud of all of them.

We started the test on Komodo Dragons today. Some did not get to finish because our classes were shortened because of the Mass. We will finish the test tomorrow. Today the children are coming home with a study guide for the Unit 2 skills test which we will begin tomorrow. I hope to finish that up on Wednesday.

Have a good week!

In our Religion classes this week we are learning about how Catholic families prepare for Christmas. Some of us use Advent wreaths, calendars, and some people prepare by setting up a Nativity scene without any of the figures in it. On each day of Advent, they do a good deed, or say a prayer for others, and they place a piece of straw in the manger to prepare for Christmas.

Fourth grade is also participating in the Mass on Monday, December 8th. This is the feast of the Immaculate Conception. The mass is at 10:00. I hope you can come and celebrate with us.

In Reading this week we are reading an expository nonfiction article on the KOMODO DRAGONS. The children should also take the accelerated reading test on this article. The test for this story will be on Monday, December 8th, the same day as our mass.

We are off on Friday, so the Unit 14 Spelling test will be on Thursday of this week.

I hope everyone had a great Thankgiving. It was nice to see all of you at conferences. You have such nice children, I truly enjoy being with them everyday.

In Religion we are learning about the Beatitudes. I have asked the children to bring in newspaper or magazine articles that show examples of people living the Beatitudes today. We will have our test on this chapter on Thursday. The children do not have to memorize the Beatitudes for this test.

Our story this week is THE SWIMMING HOLE, which is a chapter from the book, ON THE BANKS OF PLUM CREEK, by Laura Ingalls Wilder. The reading book should be coming home 3 times a week, the children should be reading the story and learning the vocabulary for the story.

Thursday of this week we will be going to preschool to read to them. This is in honor of Children's Book Week. Please encourage your child to read every night.

Our story this week is FAMILY PICTURES. The author, Carmen Lomas Garza, used her childhood memories to create this story. This week the children are creating their own drawings that depict a memorable event in their lives. The children should take the accelerated test on this story, too. We will have a quiz Friday on the story.

On Wednesday of this week we will have a Religion test on Chapter 3. I will once again allow the children to use their books for the test, but they still need to prepare by rereading the chapter, and learning the vocabulary. The chapter review on pages 38 and 39 are also a good review.

Friday is the kickoff for the MAGAZINE DRIVE, and also Crazy Hat and Hair Day, sponsered by our new student council. Have a great week!!
