Open House

Welcome to Room 205! I hope to see you tonight. Open house is from 6:45 until 8:00pm.

Reading-Spelling Test will be Friday. Your test for OLD YELLER will be on Tuesday. Make sure you remember your vocabulary words. Please have your essay questions completed for the test on Tuesday. You are allowed to have the essay questions written and answered on looseleaf paper for the test.

Religion-The fifth grade students have been exploring the story of Creation. We examined Michaelangelo's Creation painting and the children drew their own drawing of the famous painting. They also worked together to create a prayer about the upcoming school year.
We are looking forward to the back to school mass on Friday planned by the 8th grade class. Please join us at 1:15pm for this event.

Remember...No school on Monday. The teachers have a meeting. Have a great weekend.

Remove your phone number!

PARENTS...PLEASE READ THIS IMPORTANT MESSAGE AND PASS IT ALONG TO YOUR FRIENDS!!
>Google has implemented a new feature which enables you to type a
> telephone number into the search bar, hit enter, and you will be
> given the person's name and address. If you then hit MapQuest, you
> will get a map to the person's house.
>
> Everyone should be aware of this! It's a nationwide reverse telephone book.
> If a child gives out his/her phone number, someone can now look it up to
> find out where he/she lives. The safety issues are obvious, and alarming.
>
> Note that you can have your phone number removed or blocked. I
> tried my number, and it did come up, I clicked map and Mapquest
> gave directions directly to the house. Quite scary. Please look up your
> own number.
>
> In order to test whether your phone number is mapped, go to:
> ; Type your phone number in the search bar (i.e. 555-555-1212) and hit enter.
>
> If you want to B L O C K Google from divulging your private information,
> simply click on your telephone number and then click on the Removal Form.
> Removal takes 48 hours.

Religion

Two more days and counting to Fisher Fest!
We will have our first Religion test on Tuesday. The students were given a VERY detailed study guide for their test. I promise that if they use it and study from it....they will be fine!!! There are two essay questions on the test. These questions appear on their study guide as well.
We attended mass on Tuesday. The gospel was the story of Jesus and asking the men to follow him as his apostles. We then went to Religion class and discussed characteristics of each apostle. The kids wrote (in their journal ) who they think they most resemble in character and thoughts. The entries are very sweet. Please ask your child about who and why they choose the apostle that they did.
