Welcome

Fifth grade religion
We are off to a great week. The students wrote and illustrated where they saw God during their summer vacation. Their work is very sweet. The papers are hanging up in our classroom. Please take a look at them when you come for open house. They have been learning to write their own prayers based on a very easy formula. I will have those pieces of work on display to show you.

Sixth grade reading
We are off to an easy start in reading. We worked on our vocabulary and the idea of the importance of the setting for a story. We started to listen to the story of "Old Yeller" today. We'll wrap up the story tomorrow. Next week will begin nightly homework in Reading. Chances are that if your child tells you that there is no homework in Reading, you may want to see their assignment notebook. Spelling test and vocabulary will start next week along with workbook pages that go along with the unit that we are doing in reading. I will post all work on the blog in case you need it. Due dates will also be posted for book reports and accelerated readings.
