The students wrote beautiful Mother Teresa essays. Their work will be displayed in the hall. We spent three class days watching a video about Blessed Mother Teresa. The students wrote down specific ways that they saw Mother Teresa use the Seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit in her every day life. They then spent two days in the computer lab typing the gifts and examples and then placed a picture that they thought showed that specific gift. The students then researched quotes made by Mother Teresa and wrote about why they choose that quote, how they saw Mother Teresa use that quote in her life and how the student plans on encompassing that quote in their daily life. Wow! Eighth graders are very insightful! The last part of the assignment was to write a short biography about her. What an incredible woman.
In our confirmation program, the students have been learning about Kohlberg and his steps to moral development. We are now studying St. Ignatius and his ideas of discernment. All this to help in the process of making good decisions in their lives.
Thanks for your continued support in the mentoring sessions and making sure that your child places great effort in the "questions of the week". If they are truly committed to their faith, these questions are a great way to learn about the "in depth" look into our faith. Hey...Why not work on the questions together this week?
