Friends of Jim Martin
This Sunday, October 1st we are invited to the Holy Name Meeting at 6:30pm in Kane Hall to watch da' Bears go 4-0 against Seattle. YES..women are invited. There will be plenty of food and drinks to enjoy. But better than the bears....is the reason why I am asking you to join us. For a mere $20 donation, you could help a fellow parish member and his family. Jim Martin, who had 5 graduates at Saint John Fisher, is in need of some help. Jim will be donating 60% of his liver, next month, to his younger brother Michael. Mike suffers from the disease called Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis. Without the donated liver, Mike would only have a year left to live. As I try to teach my students about service, and what Jesus wants us to do to help our fellow neighbor, I cannot think of a better example to use than Jimmy Martin.
So, I ask that you join us on Sunday night for an evening of celebration. Not just for "da Bears", but also for the idea that something really wonderful could happen because you cared and helped out a fellow family in need.
There will be great raffles and prizes to win.
