Rebecca Caudill Young Readers' Book Award
Rebecca Caudill lived and wrote in Urbana, Illinois for over 50 years. The award is given in recognition of her literary talent. The Rebecca Caudill Young Readers' Book Award was developed to encourage children and young adults to read for personal satisfaction. This year our school is participating. I am so excited about the books that are on the 2010 nominee list. There are 20 books on that list. The children need to read at least 3 of them to be able to vote for their favorite one. Children all over the state of Illinois will be choosing the winning book. The vote will take place in the middle of February. After a book is read the student should fill out a report sheet for Mrs. Funk. All of the books are already on our accelerated reading list.
Here are the books on that list.
Naked Mole-Rat Letters
Home of the Brave
Shark Girl
Shooting the Moon
Freedom Walkers
Dragon Slippers
