K-4 Reading Contest
The reading competition continues...
There is still 2 weeks left until our contest ends.
Remember the room in each grade that reads the most books will win.
Our wall is overflowing with snowman and penguins.
It is so awesome to see their enthusiasm for reading!

Great America Reading for K-6th grade
There is 2 weeks left to read books for a ticket to Great America.
All reading sheets are due by Friday, February 20th!
Accelerated Reading Pizza Party is February 12th
Over 50 students from 2nd grade - 8th grade will be invited to the party.
These student have the most accelerated reading points in their grade level.
They will have a pizza lunch in the library.
Congratulations to all of those readers!
Our Book Fair this year begins on Sunday, March 29th!

7th and 8th grade:
To go along with the Holocaust unit the students are listening to the book "The Boy in the Stripped Pajamas."
6th grade:
Learning about bibliography and resources for the science fair.
Having a scavenger hunt in the library to look up quotations, practice in OPAC, our card catalog, looking in encyclopedias, looking up Newbery and Caldecott award books and much more.
5th grade:
Learning about bibliography and resources for the science fair.
Working on their Book Report Book Review:
The cover of the book will be drawn in library class.
The outside booklet cover contest is due on February 23rd.
4th grade:
Learning about the 920 and 921 sections (collected biography and biography)
Learning to arrange the books on the shelf in the right order.
3rd grade:
Had fun listening to Mr. Tanen's Ties and then designed their own ties.
Learning about the nonfiction section along with The Dewey Decimal System.
2nd grade:
Having lots of fun reading and taking their accelerated reading quizzes.
They listened to Clifford stories and then wrote their own.
They typed their stories in computer class.
They will be bound and kept in the library.
Learning about the nonfiction section - Melvil Dewey and the Dewey Decimal System.
1st grade:
They listened to snow stories and wrote their own story about what their favorite thing to do in the snow. They will be bound and kept in the library for the students to look at.
We read "Elmer in the Snow" and they had lots of fun making their own patchwork elephant.
They are learning about fiction and nonfiction also.
Kindergarten:
We are having lots of fun learning how to take care of our books.
We are drawing our favorite parts of our stories and learning about how a book is put on a shelf and how they are organized.
They really take their time to pick out their books. Have fun exploring the world of books with them.
As the winter days are still upon us why not warm up with a good book.
