Tis the Season for Books and Reading!
Children's Book Week partner reading was a lot of fun. A buzz of reading could be heard as I walked through the hall and into the classrooms. The younger students enjoyed their time with the older students. Thanks to the students in grades 4-8th. They really took their time to pick out that special book to read.
December Happenings:
Christmas stories are being read to all of the classes. Christmas bookmarks and ornaments are being made, Christmas crossword puzzles, Christmas Title Bingo and other activities are happening.
Some of the books we are reading:
The Gingerbread Baby by Jan Brett
The Perfect Present by Michael Hague
Night Tree by Eve Bunting
Jingle Bells, Homework Smells by Diane DeGroat
Pippin the Christmas Pig by Jean Little
The Christmas Miracle of Jonathan Toomey
An Orange for Frankie by Patricia Polacco
Christmas Tapestry by Patricia Polacco
Merry Christmas Big Hungry Bear by Audrey Wood
Christmas Trolls by Jan Brett
Apple Tree Christmas by Trinka Noble
Polar Express by Chris VanAllsburg
Angela and the Baby Jesus by Frank McCourt
The 5th and 6th graders are doing book report projects with Christmas Books. Our library has over 103 fiction Christmas stories. They are going off the shelf faster than we can put them back.
Our 2nd, 3rd and 4th graders are reading and taking their accelerated reading quizzes.
Remember after 12 passed quizzes you can enter the bike raffle which is held at the end of the school year.
During the season of Christmas don't forget to take a moment to read that favorite Christmas story. You are never too old to reread your favorites.
Wishing you a Merry Christmas and Happy reading!
