| No TrackBacks

Hola Kindergarten Familias ,
We are enjoying up our "Friends Around the World" unit. Since Wednesday, May 5th is Cinco de Mayo, Mexico will be our final destination. We would like to celebrate the unit with a Mexican Fiesta! Because of our Fashion Show, Our Fiesta will be on Thursday, May 6th! We will be having tacos with all the trimmings (OR plain - -whatever your child would prefer) chips and salsa. The teachers will supply the taco meat and are hoping that you would be so kind to send in the following circled item by Monday, May 3rd :

10 juice boxes
1 pkg. shredded cheddar cheese
1 pkg. shredded iceberg lettuce
1 container sour cream
1 jar of salsa
1 jar mild taco sauce
1 bag of tostito chips
30 large heavy duty paper plates
1 pkg. napkins
1 Pkg. of taco shells

Since we will be having our Fiesta in the afternoon you do not need to send a snack on this day - unless of course your child does not like our "Mexican Menu." Each child will be receiving a little surprise at the end of the Fiesta! It should be a great day!

Adios! Gracias!

Friends Around the World

| No TrackBacks

Dear Kindergarten Families,

We are having fun with our "Friends around the World" lessons. As a part of this diversity unit we are asking that each child decorate and cut out the enclosed "doll" or "guy" so that it represents his/her nationality. You may include more than one nationality if needed. You may also decorate the back of the cut out if you wish. Please write down the nationality as sometimes kindergarteners get confused and may change your heritage! This may be written on the cut out or on a sheet of paper in your child's folder.

Feel free to decorate any way that you like: coloring, painting, fabric, yarn, flags, etc. Please don't stress over this and just have fun! We would like all ethnic guys and dolls returned to school by Friday, April 16th.

Thank You!

Dear Kindergarten Families,

We had four "shavees" for St. Baldrick's Day! Some Daddies were brave enough to let their children shave them! We cheered for the hair cuts, danced with the D.J., and had lots of fun for such a good cause! Thank you!

Officer Jean from CPD talked with us about staying safe. We will all wear our seatbelts and never again ride in the front seat until we are 13 years old!

We visited the book fair. They have some darling books! The book fair will be open all week if you would like to stop in.

With Earth Day coming up and our book fair in full swing, we were excited to meet an author! Tim Magner from Green Sugar Press talked with us about our earth and taught us about recycling. Mr Magner loves dirt and worms! Now, I used to think worms were pretty yucky. I still don't want to touch one, but I am very interested in all that our worms do for our earth! They are actually very cool! (Just to talk about and watch...not to touch!)  Mr. Magner has some beautiful books that encourage environmental awareness in a fun way.

Spring seems to have forgotten about the lamb, but at least there's no snow! Easter will soon be here and then time really flies! The kids are growing like weeds and making me proud every day.

Gung hay Fat Choy!

We celebrated Chinese New Year today with our own festival of lights! The children paraded through the school with their beautiful Chinese lanterns and even taught the 7th graders, Sister Jean, and Mrs. Wagner a few things about China! I hope that they will share their vast knowledge with you!

As St. Patrick's Day rapidly approaches, we will begin learning about Ireland. If anyone has any pictures or anything to share, we would love it!

With St. Joseph Day immediately following, we jump to Italy for a while and then return to Ireland. And then return to Italy...

Our days are busy and fun! Thanks for all your help and support!

We would like to thank you for making this such a happy and successful year for us. We truly appreciate all the time that you have spent practicing word wall words and phonics skills along with number recognition and adding skills! It makes such a big difference! THANK YOU!
Sincerely,
The Head Leprechauns
