Hi Parents,

The progress reports will only show quiz and test scores. The grade for homework Average and Accelerated Math Average can only be entered into the computer for the final math tri-mester grade. Please continue to review times and division tables. It makes a world of difference. Speaking of “world,” on Tuesday, October 2, 2007 my car’s odometer turned 200,000 miles just as I arrived at school. That would be equivalent to driving around the world at the equator over 8 times. Makes me proud. More later.

Progress Reports were good. There will be more quizzes and tests; so half of a tri-mester is left to improve a math grade. There is no extra credit for individual students to improve a grade. Students must demonstrate mastery of concepts via tests. Tests cannot be re-taken if a score is low. Students must prepare to earn a good score the first time the test is taken. Reminder: Students know I stay after school to help if there is a difficulty.

10-25 entry

The 6th grade is finishing their study of working with fractions. I am pleased with the results. We will be getting into geometry. I have many concepts to teach them.

The 5th grade will soon begin learning fractions. They will do just as well.

Some students have begun coming to me after school for help. Their confusion was cleared up quickly. Students must request the extra help. I do not make them come. I don’t want it to appear as an after school punishment.
