May 24-28

Monday = The students will write a rough draft for the writing portion of the unit 6 reading test. We will work on units 18 and 24 in spelling. These are review units. A study guide will be sent home for the Chicago test.

Tuesday = We will do a review for English unit 13.

Wednesday = Unit 6 test for reading. Unit 13 test for English.

Thursday = Chicago test for Social Studies.

Friday = Keep working on multiplication and division facts in math!


Dear Parents,
The field trip was wonderful! Thanks to all of our chaperones! I think everyone had a great time! If a child has a summer birthday, they can celebrate before the end of the school year. Just let me know what day is good for you.

Monday = The reading story will be Two Bad Ants. The spelling words this week are words from units 1-11. Timed multiplication tests will be given in math and we will continue our work on division. We are working on adverbs in English this week. The Chicago project is due! All book orders need to be turned in today!

Tuesday = The students should have completed 8 accelerated reading tests by today. 10 tests need to be done by May 28th. Chapter 7 math quiz on division.

Wednesday = Watch out Navy Pier...Here we come! Pray for nice weather!

Thursday = Timed multiplication test.

Friday = Spelling test! Open book reading test on Two Bad Ants!


Dear Parents,
A letter will be sent home on Monday with all of the instructions about our Navy Pier trip and our ride on the Mystic Blue. Everyone is so excited! Have a great weekend and I hope we see the sun soon!

Monday = The reading story will be Floating Home. The unit 35 spelling words are compound words. Timed multiplication test. We will be writing a persuasive paper this week.

Tuesday = The students should have completed 7 accelerated reading tests by today. 10 tests need to be done by May 28th.

Wednesday = Timed math test. We are also dividing in math. We are continuing our work on our Chicago unit.

Thursday = Open book reading test will be given today. Unit 35 spelling test.

Friday = The students do not have school today. The teachers have a meeting.


Dear Parents,
Happy Mother's Day!! I hope your day is extra special! You all deserve to be pampered. Thank you for giving me these wonderful students! I am very blessed and I know you are too! Enjoy your day!
Book orders are due on Monday, May 17th. This is a great way to get some inexpensive books for summer reading! Have a great weekend!

Monday = The reading story will be The Extra Good Sunday. We are working on multiplication and division fact families. Timed test in math.

Tuesday = The spelling words this week have the suffix -ly. We are having fun learning all about the great city of Chicago!

Wednesday = Timed math test.

Thursday = Open book reading test will be given today. Unit 34 spelling test.

Friday = Timed math test. We will attend May Crowning at 10:00. Today is a half day!

Dear Parents,
I am so sorry this is getting to you a little late. I am sure your child has told you that my computer crashed. I finally have e-mail and blog access today! The science test will be on Tuesday. We are going to begin our Chicago unit in Social Studies. Don't forget that the permission slip and money is due on Friday, April 30th. Some of you said you are coming on the file trip, but you forgot to pay. Please send in your money by Friday. Thanks! Our reading story this week is called Mailing May. We are also talking about the importance of the setting in a story. Keep practicing those multiplication facts. They students have improved so much! Thanks for all of your help! Have a great week!

Monday = Our reading story will be The Pinata Maker. A take home test will be given for English. Timed multiplication test.

Tuesday = Our spelling words this week are irregular plural words. Continue practicing the multiplication facts.

Wednesday = Unit 11 English test. Timed math test.

Thursday = We are finishing chapter 11 in science. Lesson 4 consists of simple and compound machines. Can you find examples around your house?
Today is Earth Day! Practice good habits to help our earth!

Friday = Reading test on The Pinata Maker. Unit 32 spelling test. Timed math test.

Monday = We will continue with the story Leah's Pony. We will cover unit 31 in spelling. This unit is all about plural words. Continue to practice multiplication facts. We will begin chapter 11 in science - position and motion.

Tuesday = There will be a timed math test. Review pronouns and contractions in English.

Wednesday = Quiz on chapter 9 in math. We will work on the writing portion of the unit 5 reading test. The students will work on homophones in English.

Thursday = Timed math test. Unit 5 reading test.

Friday = Unit 5 reading test. Unit 31 spelling test.

Dear Parents,
I hope everyone had a wonderful spring break. I loved hearing all about the trips to other states, to Grandma's house or just lounging around the house! It is hard to believe we are half way through April! We are not slowing down though. It is so important to keep the children focused on school. I know it can be tough, especially now that the days are so nice. Thanks for all of your help!

P.S. A special thank you to the girls in my class that worked so hard and sold so much lemonade. The girls took the money that they made and bought my classroom dry, erase markers. I had tears in my eyes when they gave the markers to the class. Wow! What a wonderful act of kindness! Thank you girls!

Monday = The reading story will be Leah's Pony. We will begin the story this week, and continue it after spring break. Our spelling list will be Easter words this week. Review for the unit 4 social studies test. The study guide was sent home on Thursday.

Tuesday =Unit 4 social studies test.

Wednesday = Timed math quiz on multiplication facts. We will have a prayer service at 1:30.


Dear Parents,
Thank you so much for the classroom books that were purchased at the Book Fair. The students were so excited too! Please practice multiplication facts. We will start doing timed tests. Too many of the children are still using their fingers to try to solve the problem. Have a wonderful spring break and Easter! Enjoy time with your family!

Monday = The reading story will be More Than Anything Else. We are working on unit 29 in spelling. These words are contractions. Continue your work on multiplication facts! In English, we will work with pronouns. We will have an author visiting our classroom at 1:50 today.

Tuesday =Review for chapter 6 math test. We are learning about citizens and the role they play in a community in social studies.

Wednesday = Chapter 6 math test. The students may not use the multiplication charts on their desk! We will attend the Book Fair from 12 - 12:30 today. You may send cash or a check that is signed, since tax will be added to each purchase. Feel free to meet us in Kane Hall at our time!

Thursday = We will begin chapter 9 in math. This will continue our work on multiplication. We are continuing our discussion about the Stations of the Cross in religion.

Friday = Reading test on More than Anything Else. Unit 29 spelling test.


Dear Parents,
I am so sorry I was not able to attend the St. Patrick's Mass on Tuesday. I heard it was wonderful! We have a busy week! I hope you can attend the 10:00 mass on Sunday. You are able to go to the Book Fair after mass. We will have author Tim Magner visiting our classroom on Monday from 1:50-2:10. We will attend the Book Fair on Wednesday. Have a great weekend! Monday = The reading story will be Chibi. We are working on unit 27 in spelling. These words will focus on adding ing to the end. Continue our work on multiplication. Please practice your
multiplication flash cards!

Tuesday = Study for the chapter 10 science test. The study guide was sent home on Thursday, March 4th.

Wednesday = Chapter 10 science test.

Thursday = We will begin a new chapter in social studies.
Chapter 8 is about governments and how they work.
Friday = will take the reading test and the unit 27 spelling test today.

Dear Parents,
We survived the Terra Nova testing week! I really do think the favorite part was eating the hard candy and snacks! Don't forget to send in your reply to Ms. Chermak about the St. Pat's mass. It is due Monday, March 8th.
